About Dr. Wendy González
Dr. Wendy González is the founder and president of Educational Excellence Consulting & Coaching, LLC. She brings 30 years of varying experiences with 16 years in administrative roles at both the division and school levels, including serving as a division superintendent and another 14 years as a teacher from various school divisions within Virginia.
She specializes in school improvement work, organizational performance and management, executive coaching and leadership development. Just as she had mentors who encouraged and supported her throughout her career, she strives to pay it forward by growing the leadership potential in others regardless of their formal role. She believes everyone is a leader whether within their home, community, classroom or office.
She believes that all students deserve robust, rigorous and relevant learning experiences within orderly, safe and equitable environments with caring adults that will help them shine to their fullest potential. It is the responsibility of the leadership within the classroom, schools and divisions to ensure that these experiences and environments excel so that students can thrive under their tenure.
Dr. González earned her executive coaching certification in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance, an International Coaching Federation certified accredited coaching training program, from American University. She earned her doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from The George Washington University. Her doctoral research focused on school administrators’ preparation to use data, for which she was awarded the Robert Kottkamp Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Education Research Association. She also earned her master’s degree from The George Washington University in Education and Human Development in Educational Leadership and Administration. She earned her bachelor's degree from James Madison University and was awarded the Outstanding Student of the Year in Secondary Education her senior year.
